– Who is the greater evil then? Gumi explores whether the greater evil is in the individual or due to the situation.

– the PDP has allowed absolute freedom of speech and expression, but have failed to curtail corruption.
Since after The Economist’s take on the Nigerian 2015 presidential elections, it has become a legend of a difficult choice between two miserable choices.
For me, since I didn’t even get the opportunity to be registered by I.N.E.C and therefore have the PVC, I cannot vote. If I’ll have to vote, I’ll have to vote the lesser
of the two evils.
Who is the greater evil then?
It all depends on your perception, experience and sentiments.
The greater evil is not an individual but the situation and circumstances that will be the consequence of his continuance or ascension to power. It’s the situation where by there will be turmoil, unrest and more economic hardship for the nation as a whole or even disintegration.
A PDP win can trigger unrest in the North and to a much lesser extent in the SW, while an APC win will definitely
trigger a SS insurgency. They have said it. You can’t reject our son and also enjoy our oil. It’s not a bluff, we all know that. PDP has greater Northern and Southwestern presence than APC has in the SS. Which is very important in crisis management.
At all costs, if the SS is in a turmoil as a result of this election, then Nigeria will be finished. This is the joker they know they hold.
The Military needs big funding to finish off BH insurgency. The neglect of the military time immemorial for fear of coups by successive regimes and the perennial corruption in the fabric of the Nigerian society has rendered it a toothless bulldog. But with the recent reversal of policy by the Government, good results were and are still achieved. Any turmoil that will cut-off the oil revenue as little as it can be, BH can reinvigorate again.
The political instability in Yemen and the collapsed economy has incapacitated the Yemeni armed force to capitulate in front of the Houthi Shiite insurgency who have now taken over the capital city.
What APC have not yet address or convince any voter, is how they can avert another insurgency in the Delta. At least PDP have achieved that already.
What PDP have not assured the voter who sees all the recent stunts at recognising it’s misrule and the drastic measures it took like the lowered petrol and electricity
tariffs, equipping the military, etc are not going to be reversed immediately after wining an election?
APC which seriously depends on the personality of Gen. Buhari in the north and Sen. Tinubu in the SW will have
institutional problems in the event there is post election disqualification of their presidential candidate. With PDP, the mega corruption is likely to continue which
will also mean a slow death of the nation through decay. PDP has allowed absolute freedom of speech and expression. In many years I’ve criticized the Government
in press and my sermons, some of which I regret after understanding the opposite, yet nobody censored me not even my good friends in the PDP. With APC a cult of
irrational followers has already formed. They are ready to go to any length to silence criticism especially without any interest shown to dissociation from their unruly
behavior by their leaders.
PDP has changed. It’s no more controlled by the second generation Oil generals that have meddled in Nigerian politics since 1966. It’s the party of new generation
Nigerians now. While also APC has transformed into the a party of great national interest and has accommodated
the old class politicians, it is therefore more apt to display wisdom and maturity.
To neutralize both the PDP and APC after your choice of the lesser evil, divide your votes. If you choose a party of your choice for the presidency you should choose the
opposite for the Senate and House of Representatives. In that case you can be sure there won’t be impunity for the
next fours years after which the two miserable choices must have expired for a new set of leaders. So when you vote, contemplate well and seek Allah’s indulgence. The good thing about the whole issue is that we are all Nigerians someway, somehow we will navigate our way out of the troubled waters.
With God’s Help of course. Amin
